The ‘reside’ artists residency explores the issue of identity and belonging within Midlothian communities. The idea behind the residency is two-fold:
+ to offer an opportunity to Midlothian communities to work with an artist to create work that reflects their local area and their relationship to it
+ to offer an opportunity to an artist to work for a prolonged period of 2 years on a specific project, whilst developing their own practice and body of work.
The project aims to engage a wide range of participants from selected areas in Midlothian, giving them the opportunity to work with and learn from a professional artist, looking at issues that affect them in their local communities and providing a vehicle through which they can present an alternative view of their local community.
